The Delta State Police Command on Tuesday announced the arrest of over 100 suspected homosexuals who organized a wedding ceremony in a hotel in Delta State. In a post on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle, state police said they would soon bring in the suspects.
"They were arrested at a hotel where a gay wedding ceremony is taking place. We will soon be live on Facebook to introduce the said suspects."
Since the signing of the anti-gay law in 201, security agents have been arresting people believed to be homosexuals.
In December 2020, the Lagos State Police Command arrested 10 persons suspected of engaging in homosexual activities in a brothel in the Okota area of the state. In early 2018, the state police evicted 57 men for alleged homosexual activity at the Kelly Ann Hotel in Egbeda.
In January 2022, eight alleged homosexuals were arrested at a hotel in Isolo, Lagos State for alleged homosexual activity. The Anti-Gay Law of 201 provides for a one year prison sentence for anyone convicted of same-sex.
