"Although this album has the name 'World Best', which my friends and fans already call me, I am the one who confirms the path I have chosen," the Nigerian star tells reveals.
Nigerian star Patoranking showcases his new album World Best which is out today 6th September. “My journey in music has not always been easy,” the musician tells Rolling Stone, “but we're still rising, as Maya Angelou said.
World Best is Patoranking's fourth album and first in three years, after 2020's Three. The album title, Patoranking adds, is also his "confirmation". Reflecting on his journey from his first releases in 2014 to now, he continues: "My first song 'Alubarika' I said 'nothing from anywhere, from Lagos to America'. I confirmed the road I took. The road less traveled pays off ."
Since 2014, Patoranking has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to mix elements of reggae, dancehall, afrobeat and rap. World Best talks about this selection, especially about the countless guests, including international stars like Ludacris, Beenie Man and Popcaan. Patoranking also reached out to other African hits Kizz Daniel and Diamond Platnumz, as well as emerging artists such as Gyakie, Victony and Zion Foster.
"The album is a pure celebration of African music on stage," Patoranking said in a statement. "Africa is now. I always say that I am blessed that this is happening in my generation and I am happy to be part of this history.
At the time of its release, Three was Patoranking's biggest album to date, based on the lead track "Abule". He's been busy in the three years since its release, sharing songs like "I'm In Love" and 2021 hit "Celebrate Me" before launching his official world number one. Over the past year, Patoranking has dropped songs including "Kolo Kolo" featuring Diamond Platnumz, "Abobi", "Higher" and "Tonight" featuring Popcaan.
