The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima has said, that despite efforts by governments across different levels, Nigeria’s housing deficit remains huge as N21 trillion will be required to effectively bridge the gap.

The VP made this assertion on Sunday, September 10, as he laid the foundation for a 500-unit Housing Estate by the Sokoto State Government.
In a statement shared on X page (formerly Twitter) by Olusola Abiola, the director in the Office of the Vice President, Shettima notes that Nigeria has a housing deficit of twenty-eight million houses.
Shettima, who commended the State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for his efforts to address the housing needs of his people, noted that the housing deficit in Nigeria remained a huge challenge.
According to the VP,
“Nigeria has a deficit of 28 million houses and we will need N21 trillion to meet our housing needs.
“This step taken by the Governor is highly commendable and worthy of emulation by other State governments.”

Mr Phrank Shaibu, the special assistant on public communications to Atiku Abubakar, has hit out at Vice President Kashim Shettima for his speech in the aftermath of the presidential election tribunal verdict that was declared in favour of President Bola Tinubu.
Shettima, who was seen in a viral video addressing pressmen, made a comical remark about retiring Atiku as a herder in Fombina.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said that Nigeria’s economy grew by 3.54% in absolute terms in the second quarter of 2022, a decline of 1.47% increase in comparison to 3.11% in the second quarter of 2011.
According to Legit, the NBS stated that the growth dipped from 5.01% in the second quarter of 2021, when fast growth was recorded as COVID-19 ravaged the economy in the second quarter of 2020.
Best-performing sectors include road transport, coal mining, air transport, Quarrying and other minerals.
