Interior Minister Bunmi Tunji-Ojo has promised to reform Nigeria's immigration service in a way that instills respect for the country's citizens.
Tunji-Ojo said all passport offices, including foreign ones, will adopt service. He noted that one of his main responsibilities is dealing with things like passport collection. Tunji-Ojo disclosed this in a broadcast message shared with journalists in Abuja on Sunday.
“We will do everything possible to ensure that we do not disappoint him (President Bola Tinubu) in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Plan. "I assure Nigerians that we want to reform our immigration service in such a way that Nigerians can be treated with respect and that we can open all the bottlenecks in the collection of passports and see other issues related to immigration services generally under control."
He also claimed that his proposed reforms to the federal fire service would improve the agency's ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
Tunji-Ojo said: "As a ministry, we are doing everything possible to implement major reforms in our fire centers and reduce our fire response time to less than fifteen minutes."
In relation to the detention center, he emphasized the commitment of his administration to reduce overcrowding in detention centers and to give inmates the opportunity to rehabilitate and successfully reintegrate into society.
He said: “I would also like to assure you that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are doing everything possible to reform our detention centers like the overcrowding in these centers with bright life and hope of course.
