A police inspector was killed by unknown gunmen in Rivers state. It was gathered that on Friday night August 25, 2023, a policeman from the Operations Division of the Bayelsa State Police Command died in the D/Line area of Port Harcourt.
The spokesperson of the National Police Commission, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the killing of the inspector, said the thugs fled with their rifle and beret.
“On August 25, 2023 at about 8:30 pm, it was reported that one Inspector “m” of the Ministry of Operations, Yenegoa Bayelsa State was shot in the head while escorting his Director at Landmark Hotel, Oroworukwo, Olu Obasanjo, Port Harcourt. His rifle and beret were taken away, the statement said. "Immediately intelligence teams were mobilized to the scene.
Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing hoodlums and recover the rifle. The body has been deposited at the Port Harcourt Military Hospital for postmortem. Further developments will be communicated."
